How Engine Supply & Fit Service Works at Apex Engines

We start the engine replacement process by identifying the exact vehicle and engine through your registration number. Vehicle information establishes the make, model, year and engine specification and eliminates the possibility of procuring the wrong engine for your vehicle. Once the vehicle has been identified, it's time to establish which replacement engine is compatible. Depending on your vehicle, budget and availability, this may be a reconditioned engine or a quality-checked used engine.

You can either drive your vehicle to our workshop, or if the vehicle is not drivable, then nationwide collection can be arranged. Engine fitting is carried out at our workshop rather than as a mobile fitting service. This allows the installation and subsequent checks to be completed in a workshop environment with the equipment required for the job.

Our technicians remove the existing engine and carry out any additional work identified during removal to prepare the bay for a smooth installation. Any additional work required is discussed before it is carried out. The compatible engine is fitted to the vehicle and the required connections, fluids and related components are completed as part of the installation.

Engine replacement does not finish when the engine starts.

After installation, the vehicle undergoes diagnostic checks followed by road testing before handover. These checks help confirm that the replacement engine and associated vehicle systems are operating correctly following installation.

Used or Reconditioned Engine: Which Should You Have Fitted?

You have a few options available when replacing the engine. You can choose to replace it with a brand new engine from the dealership; however, this is not a cheap option, and sometimes the engine cost exceeds the vehicle value as well. You can choose from a used, reconditioned or rebuilt engine rebuild and here is how you can decide.

Code Matching the Engine to Your Vehicle at Apex Engines

It is important to match the exact engine to your vehicle for compatibility. A manufacturer may use several engine variants within the same model generation. Changes can occur between model years and different power outputs may use different hardware, electronics or engine specifications.

For that reason, we begin with the vehicle registration and, where necessary, additional engine identification details.

The objective is simple: establish the correct specification before supplying the replacement engine. If you already know your engine code, include it with your enquiry. If you do not, your registration and vehicle details give us a starting point for identifying the engine you need.

Nationwide Engine Supply and Fitting

No matter where you are in the UK, we can arrange to send your required engine at your preferred destination in prime condition. If your vehicle cannot be driven because of engine failure, nationwide collection can be arranged and the vehicle transported directly to us.

Most engine fitting jobs are completed within approximately 3–7 working days once the required engine and parts are available. Timescales can vary depending on the vehicle, engine availability and whether additional work is identified during installation.

How Much Does Engine Supply and Fitting Cost?

The cost of supplying and fitting a replacement engine varies from vehicle to vehicle.

Factors include the exact engine specification, whether you choose a used or reconditioned engine, engine availability, fitting complexity and any additional components required.

For an accurate quotation, provide your vehicle registration and details of the engine problem. We can then identify the correct engine and discuss the available replacement options.

If you have already purchased an engine elsewhere, we can also consider fitting a customer-supplied engine, subject to compatibility and inspection checks.

If your engine has failed or requires replacement, send us your vehicle registration to get started.

We can identify the correct engine, discuss used and reconditioned options and provide a quotation for supply and fitting. Nationwide collection can also be arranged for non-running vehicles.
